Hugh Lighting Design is an architectural lighting design and consulting firm specializing in all realms of lighting applications. Peter Hugh, President, has more than 18 years’ design experience in hospitality, transportation, retail, healthcare, educational, commercial, residential, landscape and industrial lighting.

In order to bring the architectural vision to its fullest realization, we listen carefully to the architect and/or interior designer to understand their design intent, paying close attention to not only the function of the space, but also its “personality”. We actively coordinate with all related disciplines on each project. As a result, the finished product is an aesthetically harmonious environment that fulfills its intended objective.

Lighting design is both a science and an art. And, as an elemental component of the human experience, lighting is inherently magical. By enhancing a person’s environment on a subconscious level, effective lighting design creates an integration of art, science and magic. At Hugh Lighting Design, we strive to capture that magic of light that makes people truly enjoy being in a space.

Hugh Lighting Design provides services for all facets of lighting design. We are involved during schematic design to develop the lighting concept. During design development, we finalize the design and provide all specifications for lighting fixtures, cut sheets, and control conceptualization as well as coordinate mock-ups where specified. We coordinate with the electrical engineer to ensure proper translation to their drawings. For construction drawings, we coordinate details with the architect and/or interior designer, as well as with the related engineering disciplines. We provide notes as required and review shop drawings to ensure that the integrity of the design is upheld. Finally, we punch out and focus the fixtures to make sure that the designers’ vision is realized in the completed project.
